The very last of the featured events on the PGA Tour this week is the World Golf Championships HSBC Champions, which is at the Mission Hills Golf Club in Olazabal, Guangdong, China. It features a prize purse of $7,000,000 and the winner will get to take home $1.2 million. This tournament runs from the 1st of November to the 4th and then coming up directly afterward will be the Children's Miracle Network Hospitals Classic, which runs from the 8th of November to the 11th and is played in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

The most recent tournament to be played on the PGA Tour was the CIMB Classic, which was at The MINES Resort and Golf Club in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a $6,100,000 purse. It was held October 25th through the 28th and Nick Watney walked away with the $1,300,000 grand prize. The field this year consists of Brendan Jones, Ian Poulter, Richie Ramsay and Keegan Bradley as well as Robert Allenby and Thomas Aiken. Martin Kaymer, Paul Lawrie, Brandt Snedeker and Ernie Els will also be playing in this event.

On the PGA Tour this week is the second of our featured tournaments, the World Golf Champions HSBC Champions, running from November 3rd to the 6th. It will be held at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China, and these players will be joined by the men on the European Tour for this shared event. It was won last year by Francesco Molinari, taking home a check for $1,200,000 of the total seven million dollar purse. The final featured event on the PGA Tour will be the President's Cup, in Melbourne, Australia, from November 17th through the 20th.

Thomas Aiken will be participating in this event as well as Alvaro Quiros and Fredrik Jacobson along with Adam Bland and Thomas Bjorn. Stuart Appleby will be playing as well along with D.A. The PGA Tour has some tournaments in November, a notable one is the World Golf Championships HSBC Champion's Live. As for the WGC HSBC Champions, it will be held November 4th through the 7th and will the final featured PGA Tour event, happening after the other two featured tournaments for 2010, the Ryder Cup at Celtic Manor Resort and the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. The WGC is going to be held in Shanghai, China, at the Sheshan International Golf Club with a purse of $7,000,000 and Phil Mickelson defending. Last year he came out on top of the HSBC Champion's and walked away with $1,200,000.

So far world number three Lee Westwood has committed to the tournament as well as Graeme McDowell, who won the U.S. Open and Louis Oosthuizen, the British Open Champion. The field includes one more major winner, Martin Kaymer, who took the PGA Championship Tiger Woods will be competing with Mickelson, which adds the top three golfers in the world to the field, as Woods is number one and Mickelson is two. The WGC HSBC Champions Live takes place at the Sheshan International Golf Club in Shanghai, China from the 5th to the 8th November, 2009. The tournament has been contested at the same venue since 2005, but from this year onwards it has been designated a World Golf Championship event. With this honour the tournament has become one of only four in the world that has WGC status, the others being the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational, the WGC-CA Championship and the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship.
With a total purse of just over $7million, this event is an invitational and is made up of the mandatory 72 holes, split into four rounds of stroke play golf, and there is no cut. The winner will receive over $800,000 in prize money and from its inception in 2005 the class of field has improved beyond recognition, with all, the world’s top players vying for an “invite” to the tournament.
To qualify, players must be ranked within the top fifty of the official world golf rankings, as well as players that have won at least one tournament title in a sanctioned tour. Last year’s contest went to a play-off between Sergio Garcia of Spain and Oliver Wilson of England, with the Spaniard coming out on top. He finished with a score of 274, at 14 under par. The previous three winners of the tournament have been Phil Mickelson in 2007, Yang Yong-eun in 2006, and David Howell in the inception year of 2005.
