On the PGA Tour the WGC Bridgestone Invitational Live will happen right after the 3 Irish Open on the European Tour, tournament dates August 5th through the 8th. It's going to be held at the South Course of the Firestone Country Club, which is located in Akron, Ohio with a massive $8,500,000 purse. Tuesday starts all the action, with practice round for the professional players, and then on Wednesday more practice. Thursday is the official start of the tournament with round one. Friday, August 6th will be round 2 with the third on Saturday and the final round on Sunday, August 8th. The Firestone Country Club South Course is a Par 35 + 35 = 70, and the total yardage is 7,400. This course was built in 1929 but then was redone in 1960 by Robert Trent Jones, and the course has had a PGA event played there for more than 50 years.

The WGC Bridgestone Invitational is just about to get underway and there is quite a lot of excitement surrounding the event. After last year’s brilliant performance by Vijay Singh, all golf fans are waiting to see another incredible performance. Exciting news broke when Phil Mickelson declared that he would be a part of the event after a 6 week hiatus from the tour. After news broke that Mickelson’s wife had been diagnosed with breast cancer he has not played, but feels that he is now ready. It will be interesting to see how Mickelson plays after the break and you can tune in and see how it turns out right here on WatchLiveGolf.com.

Aside from Mickelson, 6 international players also finalized their intentions for the event, including recent winner of the Canadian Open Nathan Green. Mickelson has won the event two times and this will be his first event since finishing second place in the US Open. Green gained his berth in the tournament with his victory last week and five other international players held onto a spot in the top 50. Chris Wood, Paul Goydos, Andres Romero and Ben Crane will not be taking part in the event as they have other commitments. The final match ups will be decided by the end of Friday July 31st but one thing is for sure, this PGA event should go down to the wire.
