This year’s Viking Classic takes place at the Annandale Golf Club in Madison, Mississippi from Monday 26th October to Sunday 1st November 2009, and is part of the PGA’s Fall Series. Enjoy all the action of this week long golfing extravaganza right here on watchlivegolf.com, the only place to enjoy live golf streaming at its very best.

The tournament has been played in its various guises since 1968. From its inception in that year up until 1993 it was played in Hattiesburg, Mississippi and over the years has been called the Magnolia State Classic (until 1985) and the Deposit Guaranty Golf Classic.
The tournament was included in the Fall Series by the PGA in 2007 but as it typically ran alongside or around other major tournaments, the bigger players tended to stay away. This year the PGA has given the tournament its own standalone slot, something the organisers insist will raise the profile of the tournament for the coming years.
The Annandale Golf Club is a 72-par, 7,199 yard course, and the sponsors, Viking, are actually one of the PGA’s largest, hence their having a tournament named after them in their honour. The 2008 winner was Will Mackenzie after a three-way play-off after he and two other players, Marc Turnesa and Brian Gay tied on 269, 19 under par.
This year the purse for the tournament is $3.7million while the winner will collect a cool $666,000. The record score was achieved by Dan Halldorson in 1986 with 263, while three players share the to-par record of 22 over the years.
