The PGA Tour has the Verizon Heritage Tournament this week, played at Harbor Town Golf Links in Hilton Head, South Carolina and this tournament features a prize purse of $5,700.000. From that the winner of the tournament gets $1,026,000. Last year's recipient of the big check and the trophy was Brian Gay but this year everything is open for a new winner. The tournament is April 12th through the 18th and this is the 42nd year for the event. Brian Gay is the defending champion, having taken a massive record with 20 under and the lead was his by ten strokes. He beat the previous tournament record of 18 under par which was set in 1996 by Loren Roberts. This tournament is part of the PGA Tour and is worth 500 FedEx Cup points for these golfers. The course that these golfers are playing on, The Harbor Town Golf Links, is a Par 72 with 6,973 Yards of area to play on.

The field is impressive this year, but not surprising for such a large tournament.
