The PGA Tour this week heads to San Antonio, Texas for a middle of the month tournament, followed by a couple more for April. The Tour goes to Hilton Head, South Carolina next week for The Heritage, played at Harbour Town Golf Links from April 21st to the 24th and then onto the Zurich Classic of New Orleans, which happens in Louisiana from April 28th to May 1st. The Valero, Texas Open is going to be held from April 14th through the 17th at the TPC San Antonio, in San Antonio, Texas in the United States. The purse for this tournament is $6,200,000 and the winning player also walks away with 500 FedEx Cup points in addition to $1,116,000. Last year, the prize money was only $1,098,000 and the golfer who walked away with that check was Adam Scott. He beat Fredrik Jacobson by one stroke last year to take the Valero Texas Open title for 2010, and will be back to defend once again this year.

The La Cantera Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas is the course that is hosting this year's Valero Texas Open. The winner of this tournament takes home over a million dollars in prize money and the purse total is 6.1 million dollars.

The tournament takes place May 11th through 17th at the La Cantera Golf Club. La Cantera has been the host since 1995, but this will be its last year as the event is moving to the AT&T Oaks Course at TPC at San Antonio. This event is full of golf history as many of the greatest golfers in the world have played – and won – in this tournament, Arnold Palmer won it three seasons in a row, as well as Sam Snead, Ben Hogan and Tommy Armour III who made a record breaking 274 shot in 2003.
Last year, Tim Wilkinson took fourth with a score of 64, and Mark Wilson in third. Charlie Wi lost by two strokes, taking second place and 2007 Masters Champion Zach Johnson took the 2008 title. Johnson also won the Bell South Classic in 2004 and the 2007 AT&T.
