US Bank Championship in Milwaukee Live

While the oldest of the four Majors, The British Open, takes place at Turnberry Resort in Scotland this week, the PGA Tour continues with a the US Bank Championship at the Brown Deer Park Gold Course in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Brown Deer shares the distinction of being one of only two Municipal Courses on the PGA Tour with Torrey Pines, a challenging course of 6,759 yards and fifty bunkers that are persistently in the way on nearly every hole. The tees, fairways and greens are Bentgrass, while the rough is made up of Kentucky Bluegrass.

Unfortunately, just as the PGA officials were preparing for this prestigious tournament, vandals on motorcycles damaged the green at the 17^th hole on June 23^rd, sometime during the night. Experts said the motorcycle did donuts on the putting surface and damaged around sixty percent of it. The course officials removed several trees and resodded and packed the green with seed to try and get the green ready by the day of the tournament. The trees were removed to allow more sunlight to the spot, and since they were not in play on the course the tournament won't be affected by their removial.

This course was notable for being the course that Tiger Woods made his first professional appearance on, and is a Par 71. Last year, participants played for a stake in the $4,000,000 purse with the winner receiving a total of $720,000 in prize money. That winner was Richard S. Johnson, who only had two professional wins before this tournament, making this his first victory on the PGA Tour.
