This week starts off the first of four tournaments that make up the playoffs for the Barclays Live on the PGA Tour, which happens August 25th through the 28th. Matt Kuchar is the defending champions of this particular tournament and the giant grand prize of $1,350,000 attracts many of the greatest names in golf, as well as the 2500 FedEx Cup points that are earned by the golfer who wins it. It will happen at the Plainfield Country Club in Edison, New Jersey and the entire purse for this tournament is an amazing $8,000,000.

The other three tournaments that make up the playoffs are the Deutsche Bank Championship, the BMW Championship and the TOUR Championship by Coca-Cola. The playoffs at The Barclays happens on the PGA Tour this week, with the tournament happening August 26th through the 29th, from the Ridgewood Country Club which is located in Paramus, New Jersey. The purse is seven and a half million dollars and this tournament will be followed by the PGA Grand Slam of Golf, October 19th through the 20th. Well, it's time once again for the Barclays playoffs, the presigious $7,500,000 purse event that is played this year at Liberty National Golf Club, in Jersey City, New Jersey. This tournament begain in 1967, and was originally called the Westchester Classic, being played in New Yrok at the Westchester Country Club. The tournament was played in June up until 2007, alternating each year to a week before or a week after the U.S. Open. However, in 2007, it began being played in August, and this year takes place from Thursday, August 27th to Sunday, August 30th. The winner of this tournament will walk away with $1,350,000.

The Liberty National Golf Club has an impressive rating of 77.9 and is a Par 71 course that is 7,458 Yards. This course was one of the most expensive courses ever to build in the sport's history, costing a reported $129 million dollars. It was designed by Robert E. It's also unique because of its nearness to the Statue of Liberty and the Island of Manhattan.

Now Garcia is tied for second with Kevin Sutherland, while Mathew Goggin, Ben Curtisand Kevin Steelman are tied for fourth. Five players tie for the number seven spot on the board, Martin Laird, Justin Leonard, Nicholas Thompson Paul Casey and Mike Weir. 2007 saw Steve Stricker walk away with the trophy, but last year it was the number one ranked golfer on the leader board, Vijay Singh.
