Steve Stricker took the tournament last year, after thirty six holes on Sunday, taking home the John Deere Classic title after four starts. The venue is the TPC Deere Run which is located in Silvis, Illinois, and is worth 500 FedEx Cup points as well as the money. The John Deere Classic is July 6th through the 12th and the field features some huge names in professional golf. Steve Stricker, the most recent addition, ranked number seven in the world, with six out of four top ten finishes already this year, taking home the trophy at the Crown Plaza Invitational and tying for 23rd at the U.S. Open. The victory at the Colonial Country Club in Forth Worth was Stricker's fifth GTA title. Stricker has competed in this tournament a total of seven times, not including this year, since 1993, tying for fourth place in 2004.

The tournament will be held at the TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois and another committment to the tournament came with Tom Lehman, another big name that will certainly draw in fans, making this one of the best John Deere Classic fields than there has been a long time. Lehman has been playing alternately between the regular PGA Tour and the Champion's Tour and this will be his ninth time playing in this tournament. He has also played on this particular course for this tournament three times.

Stricker and Lehman join nineteen other British Open qualifiers on the field at this year's John Deere Classic, and a total of 13 former Major winners, as well as Lucas Glover, the current U.S. Open Champ. Other players on the field are top ten golfers Kenny Perry and Zach Johnson. Perry and Johnson are the number one and the number two ranked players in the FedEx Cup point standings.
