This year’s Frys.com Open takes place between the 21st and 25th October at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The tournament is part of the PGA Tour’s Fall Series and will tee-off with the full complement of 132 players present. See how the four rounds pan out by joining us here at watchlivegolf.com and enjoying every drive and putt straight from your computer screen.
With a total purse of just over five million dollars on offer, and a massive $900,000 going to the winner alone, the event is sure to be as keenly fought as it will be exciting for the spectators. With last year’s winner Cameron Beckman back to defend his crown, along with second placed Kevin Sutherland and third placed Matthew Goggin, as well as well-known names such as Tom Lehman, the 2009 event is sure to deliver on the promises it has garnered over the last couple of years of some exciting golf over the four days.
This is the third consecutive year that the tournament will be held at the Grayhawk Golf Club. The club actually has two courses – the Talon and the Raptor, but the Fry’s will take place on the Raptor. This course is a full 7,135 yards and the par-72 greens offer the golfers and the spectator’s spectacular natural views of the surrounding countryside. Although the fairways can be classed as rather generous with few strategically placed bunkers, the greens are undulating and fairly large but can be tricky due to the large bunkers fronting them.
Last year’s winner Cameron Beckman went round in 262, with rounds of 69,66, 64 and 63 for a score of 18 under par. Last year’s longest drive was by Nick Watney at an impressive 391 yards.
