Deutsche Bank Championship Live

The PGA Tour will hold the Deutsche Bank Championships this week, which is to be held at the TPC Boston which is actually located outside of Boston in Norton, Massachusetts. The purse for this event is a huge $8,000,000 because this is the second of the four tournaments that make up the playoffs. It will be held September 2^nd through the 5^th and the winner will not only walk away with $1,350,000 but also 2500 points towards the FedEx Cup. Charley Hoffman was the champion last year, and will be in the lineup again this year. It will be followed by the BMW Championship, and the Tour Championship by Coca-Cola.

Dustin Johnson plays in this year's tournament, being number one in the FedEx Cup standings right now, with Matt Kuchar in second and Nick Watney in third. The PGA Tour will go to New England for a playoff tournament known as the Deutsche Bank Championship, and it takes place on Labor Day weekend and will be the culminating tournament for the PGA Tour's FedEx Cup. Steve Stricker is the defending champion for this tournament and he will be in attendance this year, attempting to take another title. Tiger Woods has qualified for the championships, with his final round at the Barclays 4 under 67. This event will be held from August 31^st to September 6^th, and the venue is the TPC Boston which is located in Norton, Massachusetts in the United States. The top 100 golfers will be in attendance for this playoff tournament this year and not only will Stricker and Tiger Woods be in attendance, but also many past champions from this tournament including Vijay Singh, Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott as well as many other great players.

The TPC Boston is a Par 72 course that is 7,214 yards long, with 3629 on the front nine and 3585 on the back. The purse is $7.5 Million dollars with the winner taking home $1,350,000. The top 100 in the PGA Tour play-off standings will compete in this year's Deutsche Bank Championship, with only the top 70 afterwards moving on to the BMW Championship the following week. This is a big week, and it must be the time when those at the bottom of the rankings really shine and try to get enough points to keep themselves in the game. Last year, Vijay Singh took three long birdies to the final round and ended up with a five stroke win, which was his second in a row. This is the second playoff event so far, and will be played at the TPC Boston in Norton Massachusetts.

The Barclays last year were also won by Vijay Singh, as he won against Sergio Garcia and Kevin Sutherland, and it was the first playoff tournament this year, played at the Liberty National Golf Club in Jersey City, NJ, which has only been open since 2006. The course is 7400 yards and Par 71. The next playoff after The Deutsche is the BMW Championship, which will feature the top 70, but only the top thirty moving on. The BMW Championship will be played at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Illinois, while the last playoff, in which the top thirty will compete takes place at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta Georgia.
