BMW Championships Live

The PGA Tour will hold the BMW Championship this week, the third in the series of four playoff events for the PGA Tour, and this event will see the rest of the top FedEx Cup contenders continue for the Cup. It started with the Barclays, with the top 125 players by points competing and was cut down to just 100 for the Deutsche Bank Championship. This week's tournament will see just the top seventy remaining players compete and that will be whittled down to just the top thirty with The Tour Championship, the next playoff event for the FedEx Cup.

The BMW Championship will be at the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club in Lemont, Illinois, with an $8,000,000 purse and 2500 FedEx Cup points up for grabs. It happens September 15^th through the 18^th and will feature last year's champion, Dustin Johnson, as well as top ten players Webb Simpson, Matt Kuchar, Luke Donald and Brandt Snedeker. The BMW Championships on the PGA Tour will be held this year, September 9^th through the 12^th, and the venue will be the Cog Hill Golf and Country Club, which is in Lemont, Illinois. This tournament has been going on since 2006, and replaced the Western Open, which lasted from 1899 to the date that it was replaced by the BMW Championship. Last year, Tiger Woods took the tournament with a score of 265, and taking home a prize of $1,350,000. In 2008 the winner was Camilo Villegas, and then in 2007, it was Tiger Woods once again, this time with a score of 262. The top 70 of the FedEx Cup leaders who were so ranked after the Deutsche Bank Championship, and then after the BMW, thirty players will on to The Tour Championship, where golfers will play to the win the FedEx Cup. Last year's FedEx Cup champion was Tiger Woods.

Right now Matt Kuchar leads the standings with 3,937 points, with Steve Stricker as second and Martin Laird in third place with 1,977 points. Justin Rose takes fourth right now with Ernie Els in fifth. Dustin Johnson and Hunter are sixth and seveth with Jim Furyk in eighth. Bubba Watson and Phil Mickelson are ninth and tenth right now.
