Wegmans Championship Live

The LPGA Tour will be playing the LPGA Wegman's Championship live June 23^rd to the 26^th in Pittsford, New Jersey. This tournament follows two other events that took place in June. The first of the month was the ShopRite LPGA Classic in Galloway, New Jersey and that event was held from June 3^rd to the 5^th for a purse of $1,500,000. The Par 71 LPGA ShopRite Classic was won by Brittany Linciome, who finished with a winning score of 72-64-66 for a total of 202. She was able to make that final stroke that put her ahead of two great players that were trailing, giving Jiyai Shin and Cristie Kerr second place. After that was the LPGA State Farm Classic won by Yani Tseng. The field this year consists of some great players including Mindy Kim, Beth Bader, Song-Hee Kim, Brittany Lang, M.J Hur, Amy Hung and Katherine Hull among many others. The LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans will be the last LPGA Tournament in June and it follows the LPGA State Farm Classic and the ShopRight Classic, June 18th through the 20th. The Championship dates are June 24th through the 27th and the prize purse is $2,500,000. This event is one of the four Majors on the LPGA Tour, joining the Kraft Nabisco Championship, the U.S. Women's Open and the Women's British Open. This particular major began in 1955 and it is a 72 hole format. The course is the Locust Hill Country Club which has a yardage of 6,641 and is rated a Par 72 for difficulty. Last year's LPGA Championship winner was Anna Nordqvist who ended up with a final of 66-70-69-68=273 (-15), four strokes ahead of the 2009 Runner-Up. Lindsey Wright. In third was Jiyai Shin.

This year the field looks great, as one would expect from such as prestigious tournament and includes Helen Alfredsson, Brandie Burton, Hye Jung Choi, Ilmi Chung, Paula Creamer, Laura Diaz, Allison Fouch, Lisa Grimes, Juli Inkster, Cristie Kerr, Taylor Leon and Nancy Lopez as well as Jane Park, Jennifer Rosales, Karrie Webb and Lindsey Wright plus more than thirty alternates.
