The LPGA Tour will see its biggest event of the year as the US Womens Open is set to go on course this weekend. The US Open is perhaps the most hotly anticipated tournament in the women’s game in the LPGA calendar.  This US Womens Open Championship will be played at Pinehurst number 2, which was also the venue for the men’s event which was held last weekend. The decision to hold the women’s event at the same course as the men’s event has added a lot of intrigue as a lot of people will now flock to see the event unlike in previous years.

The presence of the women who were practicing at the course on the last day of the men’s event generated a lot of media interest in the event, which was clearly lacking in past years. Korean Inbee Park is one of the frontrunners for the US Women’s Open 2014. She has already won twice here and has been in the top 10 six times out of the seven times she has played here. Stacy Lewis, the current number one, is also expected to be there challenging for the crown. The likes of Lydia Ko, Lexi Thompson, Michelle Wie, and Suzann Pettersen are the ones who are expected to do well at the Pinehurst when the US Women’s Open 2014 kicks off.
