The United States Women's Open Championship is next week from Saucon Valley Country Club in Pennsylvania, with the women of professional golf looking forward to this event all year, as it is the most prestigious tournament in all of women's golf. The tournament is July 6th through the 12th, with practice on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and the championship rounds taking place the rest of the week. 156 women from the world of professional golf will be hitting the field next week, and they are playing on the old course of the Saucon Valley Country Club.

Some of the women on the field that you'll want to watch this year are Paula Creamer, the 23 year old from California that won last year's Samsung World Championship as well as three other tourneys, Nicole Castrale, who won last year's Northwest Indiana FUTURES golf classic, and the Quality Concepts Kankakee FUTURES Golf Classic. There is also Julie Inkster, Kristie Kerr who won the Safeway Classic last year, Meg Mallon, Lorena Ochea, Se Ri Pak, Suzann Petterson, who won five different major wins in 2007, Morgan Pressel, Karrie Webb, and defending champion Inbee Park, who's victory at the U.S. Women's Open last year was her first major win ever.
The course at Saucon Valley is hosting a USGA Championship for the sixth time since 1951, including the U.S. Senior Open in 2000 and 1992. The Old Course is one of two Championship courses at Saucon Valley, the others being the Grace Course. Both have been ranked at in the top 100 courses in the U.S by Golf Magazine. The course itself is Par 72 and 6,789 Yards. The purse totals over three million dollars, making the U.S. Women's Open highly competitive and exciting to watch.
