Tour Championship Live

Two tournaments make the list of events that are happening on the LPGA Tour in December. The LPGA Tour Championship will take place from December 2^nd through the 5^th and the venue is Orlando, Florida's Grand Cyprus Golf Club, for $1,500,000. The tournament just began last year, and is presented by Rolex, replacing the ADT Championship. Last year, Anna Nordqvist from Sweden took home the grand prize of $225,000 when it was held at the Houstonian Golf Club November 19^th through the 22^nd. The field was made up of the top 120 players that were currently on the LPGA Tour money list at the time.

This year, the field includes some incredible players like Christie Cano, Helen Alfredsson, Paul Creamer, Laura Davies, Laura Diaz, Moira Dunn, Sandra Gal and Sophie Gustafson as well as Amy Hung, M.J. Hur, Pat and Vicky Hurst and Jumin Kang. Also attending, Cristie Kerr, Mindy Kim, Brittany Land and Jill McGill among many others. The LPGA Tour Championship presented by Rolex is coming up next week as the 2009 season of professional golf comes to an end. The tournament dates are November 19^th through the 22^nd. This is a premier event, the first time that it has been held and it will be an exciting one as big names continue to fill the field as more and more players make commitments to play in this tournament for the first time. The tournament is 72 holes and the purse is one and a half million dollars. The charity that benefits from this tournament is the Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital as well as some charities in the Houston area. The tournament is held at the Par 72 Houstonian Golf and Country Club which has 6,650 yards. With this inaugural tournament LPGA golf returns to Texas for the first time in six years. This tournament will see a field of 120 compete, many of them some of the best golfers in the world. This course opened in 1999 and was host to the 2006 Nationwide Tour Championship.

Right now Jiyai Shin leads the LPGA money list with more than 1.6 million dollars earned this season, followed by the second placed Ai Miyazato with around 1.45 million. Cristie Kerr is third currently, followed by Suzanne Petterson, Na Yeon Choi and Lorena Ochoa in sixth. The rest of the top ten include Yani Tseng, In-Kyung Kim, Angela Stanford and Paula Creamer.
