There are three tournaments this month on the LPGA Tour, and our featured tournament is the last of them. It is called the Solheim Cup and it will pit two teams against each other in a golf tournament. It is held September 22nd through the 25th in Co. Meath in Ireland. The prize for this tournament is $1,300,000 and it will be played at Killeen Castle, which has a Par of 72 and a total yardage of 6,531 yards. There are two teams that will be going head to head in this tournament, the USA Team and Europe. This tournament is held every two years and in 2009 it was the USA who came out on top.

Making up the USA Team are Paula Creamer, Juli Inkster, Cristie Kerr and Brittany Lang, as well as Christina Kim, Stacy Lewis, Ryann O'Tools, Morgan Pressen and Angela Stanford. Michelle Wie is also on the USA Team. For Team Europe we have Laura Davies, Sandra Gal, Sophie Gustavson, Caroline Hedwall and Maria Hjorth as well as Anna Nordqvist and Suzann Petterson. The Solheim Cup Live will get underway this week from August 17th to 23rd. This tournament is of course a tightly contested event where the United States takes on Europe. WatchLiveGolf is the best place to watch live streaming golf all season long and the best place to watch the Solheim Cup Live. Be sure to tune in and see how the event turns out in 2009.

Ordinarily the US team is chosen based on a unique point system that is calculated through top 25 finishes on the LPGA Tour all season long. For the Europeans they only use the points system for the first 7 players on the LET while the others are brought in from the LPGA.
The big news for this weekend’s live Solheim Cup event is that Michelle Wie will be making her first appearance for team USA. On the other side of the course Catriona Matthew just recently made the team after winning the Women’s British Open for the first time. The captain for Team USA, Beth Daniel, has also made a big splash and picked Juli Inkster for her 8th appearance in the Solheim Cup and will now be the oldest player ever to take part in the event.

The USA team will round out with Christie Kerr, Angela Stanford, Brittany Lang, Paula Creamer, Christina Kim, Kristy McPherson, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel and Natalie Gulbis. It should be quite a formidable team and hard for the Europeans to stop.
