The LPGA Sybase Match Play Championship will be held May 20^th through the 23^rd as part of the Ladies Professional Golf Association Tour, played at the Hamilton Farm Golf Club in Gladstone, New Jersey, and this event is in its inaugural year so if you are watching you will LPGA History being made. The course is a Par 72 and the yardage is 6,585 with a prize purse of $1,500,000. The schedule for this event is as follows. Practice on Monday and Tuesday, May 17^th and 18^th and a Pro-Am all day on Wednesday. The official start of round one is on Thursday, May 20^th, with 32 matches and then we move onto round two the next day that only has 16. Round three is on Saturday, where eight matches will be played, and then the quarterfinals later on on Saturday. Finally, the semis will be on Sunday, with two matches and the final match later on that day.

Commitments aren't in for the field yet, but let's take a look at the official LPGA money list for the 2010 season of golf. Ai Miyazato is in first place with $593,284 with Yani Tseng in second place with $460,000. Suzann Pettersen is third on the money list and Song-Hee Kim takes fourth with $296,267. Cristie Kerr is fifth on this year's money list. The best female golfers in the world will compete this week in Clifton, New Jersey for the Sybase Classic, a tournament on the LPGA Tour that started in 1990. It all starts on May 14^th and the tournament will be three days of intense golfing action. The competition is fierce this time around, with Lorena Ochea from Mexico intent on defending, since not only is she the 2008 champion, but also won in 2007 and 2006, which means if she wins again this year, she'll be the third golfer ever to win four consecutive events in a row, an honor shared with only one other female golfer – Annika Sorenstam. 

Ochea shares the leaderboard with In-Kyung Kim, Song-Hee Kim, Cristie Kerr and Lindsey Wright and those participating will be bringing their best to the LPGA event. The proceeds from this event go to the St. Joseph Healthcare System and the Boys and Girl's Club of Clifton.

Ochea will have her capable hands full if she hopes to defend against the players of this tournament as not only will it include some newcomers with raw talent, and perhaps a bit of luck, but will also feature five past winners of the event. 2005 Champion Paula Creamer is one of those, as is Michele Redman who won in 1997. Juli Inkster will be playing, after winning the event in 1992, Hee-Won Han from the 2003 season and of course Ochea herself, who won in 2008, 2007 and 2006.
