Samsung World Championships Live

The Samsung World Championships is the next event on the LPGA Tour, and will be September 16^th through the 20^th. This is an invitation only event that began in 1980. The field is made up of 20 players that were invited including the previous years defending champion. The tournament has had several name changes throughout the years including the Chevrolet World Championship of Women's Golf, the Nestle World Champion, The Trophee Urban World Championship of Women's Golf and the Baikyo World Championship of Women's Golf. Samsung has been the title sponsor since 1995.

The field is made up of last year's defending champion, which was Paula Creamer. Lorena Ochoa also got in after being the 2008 Vare Trophy Winner and the 2008 money leader for the LPGA Tour. Brittany Linciciome, Anna Nordqvist, who won the 2009 US Women's Open, Eun-Hee Ji, Catriona Matthew, Juli Inkster, Christie Kerr, who is the current LPGA money leader. Also playing are Sophie Gustafson, Karrie Webb, Jiyai Shin, In-Kyung Kim, Yani Tseng, Suzann Pettersen, Angela Stanford, Kristy McPherson, Na Yeon Choi and Linsey Wright and Song-Hee Kim.

Last year's winner of course was Creamer, and before that it was Lorena Ochoa for both 2007 and 2006. Annika Sorensen won the two years before that and other winners since 2000 included Sophie Gustafson. Dorothy Delasin, and Julie Inkster in 2000.
