LPGA KIA Classic Live

The LPGA Tour will be going to California this week for a great tournament called the Kia Classic and then onto the Kraft Nabisco championship in Rancho Mirage for a big prize purse of $2,000,000 and held March 31^st through April 3^rd. The Kia Classic happens in the City of Industry in California and it has a purse of $1,700,000. It will be taking place March 24^th through the 27^th and the venue is the Pacific Palms Hotel and Conference Center. The Kia Classic is the first tournament hosted in Los Angeles since 2005 and last year was the first year for the event. Last year, the event was held March 25^th through the 28^th and Hee Kyung Seo from South Korea was the big winner taking a -12 and a total of 276 at the La Costa Resort and Spa, walking away with $255,000.

The field consists of 144 golfers, 142 professionals and 2 amateurs and they include Shasta Averyhardt, Sara Brown, Chella Choi, Helen Alfredsson, Amanda Blumenherst and Song Yi Choi as well as Paula Creamer, Laura Davies, Laura Diaz and Moira Dunn. Also, Amy Hung, Juli Inkster, Pat Hurst, Katherine Hull and Hee-Won Han will be playing. For the first time this year the LPGA comes to America to play in the 2010 Kia Classic which is at the La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, Cali and is presented by J Golf. The tour began in Asia with two events and now the first of fourteen held on American soil with this brand new LPGA Tournament. This event is a four day 72 hole stroke play format, with one hundred and forty four players on the field and a prize purse totally one point seven million dollars. Next week, from April 1^st to the 4^th we have the Kraft Nabisco Championship, which is held in Rancho Mirage, California, and then The Mojo 6 in the middle of April over the ocean to Jamaica. Finally, on the 29^th of April starts the Tres Marias Championship which will come to you live from Morella, Michoacan, Mexico. This is definitely a great time for ladies golf.

The LPGA Kia Classic Live is headlined by Lorena Ochoa, but others that you'll see on the field include Paula Creamer, who was 2005 Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the year, Jiyai Shin, Karrie Webb, Laura Davies, Christie Kerr, Julie Inkster and Natalie Gulbis among many other featured players as well as a full field of 144 players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association.
