Lorena Ochoa Invitational Live

The Lorena Ochoa Invitational happens this week on the LPGA Tour, presented by Banamex and Jalisco It Happens Within You. This event will be in Guadalajara, Mexico, for a million dollars and will be held November 10^th through the 13^th. The Mizuno Classic was played earlier on the tour, in Shima-Shi, Mie, Japan from November 4^th through the 6^th and the final tournament in November on the LPGA Tour is the CME Group Titleholders, in Orlando, Florida from November 17^th through the 20^th, for a million and a half dollars.

Here are some of the ladies that will be participating in the tournament this week. Lili Alvarez will be playing along with Chella Choi, Paula Creamer and Sandra Gal. Natalie Gulbis will also be playing along with Juli Inkster, Cristie Kerr and Mindy Kim. Song-Hee Kim is also playing along with Brittany Lang, Meena Lee and Stacy Lewis. The Lorena Ochoa Invitational only started last year, and the tournament dates are November 11^th through the 14^th, with a $1,100,000 prize purse and a 72 hole format. This tournament started just last year, and in its inaugural year, Michelle Wie won the title, beating Paula Creamer by 2 strokes with a final score of 70-66-70-69, for a total of 275 and thirteen under Par. The tournament takes place in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Guadalajara Country Club, which is a Par 72 course with a total yardage of 6,644.

The field this year includes Paula Creamer, Katherine Hull, Pat Hurst, who was invited by the sponsor, as was Juli Inkster. Cristie Kerr will also be attending as well as Song-Hee Kim, Brittany Lang, Stacy Lewis, Kristy McPherson, and Angela Standrod, Michelle Wie, the defending champion, and Amy Yang, as well as Lorena Ochoa herself. Thirty-six of the world’s top lady professional golfers will do battle for the LPGA Lorena Ochoa Invitational at the Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Mexico from the 12^th to the 15^th November 2009, and you can catch all the action live by joining us here at watchlivegolf.com – the only place to be to watch live golf tournaments from across the world.

The Lorena Ochoa Invitational event, which is sponsored by Corona Light and Banamex has only taken place once before and that was last year at the same course and just about the same time of year. That first event was won by American Angela Stanford who carded a score of 275, 13 under par, winning $200,000 of the approximately $1M purse that was on offer.

The tournament is open to golfers on the LPGA tour and is hosted, as the name implies, by Lorena Ochoa, the Mexican golfer who is currently ranked number one on the LPGA tour. The event, which is hoped to become an annual affair, has its proceeds directed to the Lorena Ochoa foundation and it is interesting to point out that the Guadalajara Country Club is Lorena’s home course and where she learnt to play.

As mentioned above, the field is limited to just thirty-six players. The top five players in the world rankings are invited, along with the top twenty-six in the LPGA money rankings. An additional five golfers are invited via the sponsors.

The Guadalajara Country Club course is 6644 yards long, and the ladies will battle it out over 72 holes and four rounds. As this will only be the second time this event has been played, course records are rather irrelevant at the moment.
