On the LPGA Tour this week, one of only two tournaments that are played in the month of August on the LPGA Calendar, the CN Canadian Womens Open live, which will happen from the 25th of August to the 28th. The CN Canadian Women's Open happens in Mirabel, which is in Quebec, Canada, and it is worth $2,250,000. The other tournament on the LPGA Tour this month is the Safeway Classic presented by Coca-Cola, August 19th through the 21st. The tournament happens in North Plains, Oregon, for $1,500,000.

Last year's CN Canadian Women's Open was Michelle Wie, and she was able to take home the victory with a twelve under, beating a group of four that tied for second by three strokes. This tournament has a prize purse of $2,250,000 and it the venue is the St. Charles Country Club in Winnipeg. It's a Par 72 course with a total yardage of 6,572 yards. The format is 72 holes, and the charity is the Children's Hospital Foundation of Manitoba. This event started in 2001. The 2009 tournament resulted with Suzann Pettersen taking the first place and then five ladies tied for second place including Momoko Ueda, Morgan Pressel, Ai Miyazato, Karrie Webb and Angela Stanford. The CN Canadian Womens Open is happening this coming week, Monday, August 31st, through Sunday September 6th, presented by CN and the Royal Canadian Golf Association. It will be held at Priddis Greens Golf and Country Club in Calgary in the Province of Alberta, Canada. This particular tournament seeks to raise support to help sick children in the areas that the tournament is hosted, and has already raised almost 2 million dollars for the children's hospitals in the local communities. The women of the LPGA come to Canada to seek out this prestigious title at Priddis Greens.

This tournament precedes the P&G Beauty NW Arkansas LPGA Championship as well as the Samsung World Championship, and follows the U.S. Women's Open, which took place July 9th through the 12th and the Ricoh Women's British Open July 30th through the 2nd. The LPGA has eleven more events to run, not counting this CN Canadian's Women's Open, with the last one being the Stanford Financial Tour Championship, November 19th through the 22nd. Previous winners of the tournament for the past few years have included Lorena Ochoa in 2007, who defeated Paula Creamer, Cristie Kerr in 2006, Meena Lee, Meg Mallon and Beth Daniel.

Last year in Ottawa it was Katherine Hull who took the tournament title home, after five years on the LPGA Tour. She actually came from being six strokes behind and was still able to take home the win, with her final a three under par 69. She had four birdies and one bogey to beat Se Ri Pak and Yani Tseng who took third place, and took home the lion's share of the $2.25 million dollar tournament purse.
