A million dollars is up for grabs the last week of this month as golfers from around the world take to the field in Bridgeport, West Virginia for the Nationwide Tour Players Cup. The winner will take home a check for $180,000 dollars and a huge trophy that proves just how good they are. The 2008 Leaderboard included David Branshaw, David Hearn, Peter Tomasulo, Chris Anderson and 2008 Champion Rick Price. 

Price took home the title after blowing a one-shot lead on the final hole, making bogey. He was then required to oppose Chris Anderson in a playoff. Anderson took his shot, with his ball moving into a position near the greenside bunker. He didn't have much green to work with at that point, and worked to get the ball onto the green. His fourth shot was 20 feet from the cup. Price took advantage of Anderson missing his bogey shot to earn the second title of his career, receiving $180,000, which was the largest winner's check in the Tour's nineteen year history. That win moved Price from number 46 on the money list to number 3, with an earning total of $249,283, which gave him his tour card for this year's tournament. 

The tournament will be held at the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport, West Virginia, a course created by Pete Dye and the La Rosa family in 1978, making plans to create a world class golf course out of what was essentially 500 acres of nothing. The course was opened in 1995, and is has ranked over and over again as one of the top four greatest golf courses of the modern era. Some changes have been made to the structure, some notably by Pete Dye himself, but the course remains 7,308 yards and a Par 72. 

Practice sessions, and a Pro-Am Tournament will begin on Monday, with an awards presentation after the playing of the 2009 Coal Cup Pro-Am. Tuesday will also be professional practice, with the first round of the Nationwide Tour Player's Cup on Thursday, June 25^th. Round 2 is on Friday, and round 3 begins the following day. The final round is on Sunday, completing this year's Nationwide Tour Players Cup.
