The Cox Classic is coming up on the Nationwide Tour calendar and this golf tournament is presented by Lexus of Omaha. This event will happen from August 4^th through the 7^th and is to be held at Champions Run in Omaha, Nebraska with a $725,000 purse. Martin Piller is the defending champion for this event, taking home $130,500 last year from this event. Sunday, July 25^th, is when it all starts, with the first Pro-Am registration and tee times on Monday. The first round is on Thursday, July 29^th and then the second round happens on Friday. The third is on Saturday, with the final round on Sunday. The purse is $725,000 but the winner gets to take home a total of $130,500. The week long tournament that is the Cox Classic, presented by Lexus of Omaha will take place from July 20^th on Monday, to Sunday, July 26^th. The winner walks away with a grand prize of $130, 500 which is part of a total prize purse of $725,000. It will be played at Champion's Run, in Omaha, Nebraska, and this course is a 7,145 yard course, a Par 71, with hole six, ten and seventeen Par 5. There are eleven Par 4 holes and the rest are Par 3. Lots of excitement makes up the schedule for the week, with a Pro-Am on Monday and autographs on Tuesday. The First National Bank Pro-Am pair up party is on Wednesday with a charity auction right behind, and the tournament first round starts on Thursday.

The field list isn't complete yet, as there is still time for players to commit to competing. This Nationwide Tour event has been played since 1996, when it was called the NIKE Omaha Classic, and has gone through a plethora of name changes including moving to the BUY.COM Omaha Classic in 2000, The Omaha Classic two years later and finally picking up the cable and internet company sponsor, Cox Cable in 2004. There was also a previous subsponsor until this year, Chevrolet. Past winners of this tournament, in all of its incarnations, include Roland Thatcher, Johnson Wagner, Jason Gore, and Charles Warren as well as Bo Van Pelt and Jay Delsing.

Ryan Hietala was the big winner last year, beating David Branshaw for a winners check of $126,000 and the title of the 2009 Cox Classic winner. He won on a sudden death, on the very first extra hole making par and Branshaw with a Bogey after they had tied at 19 under.
