The BMW Charity Pro Am will be held this week, followed by the Melwood Prince George's County Open Presented by Under Armour. That tournament will be held June 2nd through the 5th, and will take place at the University of Maryland Golf Club. After that, the Rex Hospital Open happens June 9th through the 12th. The BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation is going to be held from May 19th to the 22nd and it takes place at three different golf clubs. The Thornblade Club in Greer, South Carolina, the Bright's Creek Golf Club in Mill Spring, North Carolina as well as at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The purse for this tournament is $600,000 and the winner last year was Justin Hicks who took home the prestige of the title as well as $108,000. He will be back this year to defend.

This is a $600,000 tournament, and its played on the Tom Fazio designed Thornblade Club is a Par 72 and is 6,707 yards in length. The winner walks away with a big check for $108,000. Last year's winner was Michael Sim and he walked away with 264 points against Fabian Gomez. In 2008 it was David Mathis with Roger Tambellini as runner up. Using last year's stats the first place winner got $126,000, second place walked away with just over $75,000 and third place got a little over $40,000. Last year's total purse was $700,000.

Money leaders on the Nationwide Tour start with Bobby Gates who after eight events has a total of 186,382 points while Martin Piller has 157,886. Kevin Chappell is in third place on the money list and fourth is Fabian Gomez. Jim Herman has fifth place after only seven events and is sitting there with 128,118 points. The Nationwide Tour continues on May 11th with the BMW Charity Pro Am Tournament coming from Bright's Creek Golf Course, The Carolina Country Club, and The Thornblade Club in Greer, South Carolina. The winner is getting $126,000 with the total purse at $700,000.

BMW has been sponsoring the event since 2002 with previous winners from that period including Ken Duke, Nick Flanagan, Tripp Isenhour, Charles Warren and last year's winner David Mathis. The tournament is giving back to more than twenty charities from the area including the Anderson area YMCA, The Ronald McDonald House, A Child's Haven in Greenville and The Boys and Girls Clubs.

Players competing in the tournament include Blake Adams, Dustin White, Kyle Thompson, Alex Prugh, Jesse Mueller, Steve LeBrun, Kevin Johnson, Scott Gardiner and Bryan Decorso, just to name a few. Dave Mathis won last year of course, after beating out Roger Tambellini by three strokes. In third place was Matt Weibring and fourth and fifth were taken by Bill Lunde and Peter Tomasulo respectively.
