The Champions Tour 2014 continues with the Toshiba Classic that will be played from March 14 onward. This competition will be hosted in Newport Beach, California at the Newport Beach Country Club. It is called the Toshiba Classic after its main sponsor, Toshiba who have been with the competition since 1995 when it was first played. In that year, it was called the Toshiba Senior Classic. It has some exciting history going for it, with its longest playoff happening in the third edition of the tournament leading to Bob Murphy winning it by overcoming Jay Sigel on the ninth hole. David Frost of South Africa will enter the tournament as favourite to win the competition after being the defending champion, with the winner expected to get $262,500 for the title.

A total of $1,750,000, stands to be earned by all the participants in the tournament this year too.The only player, however, to have won the title twice is Hale Irwin, who performed this task in 1998 and then four years later again. Currently, Bernhard Langer is at the top of the leaderboard though with a total of 63 strokes to be at eight under-par. There are three players tied for the second spot, at six under-par, and this list includes Chien Soon Lu, Jeff Hart and Fred Couples. The others in with a chance of pushing to the top include Duffy Waldorf, Scott Simpson, Michael Allen and Kirk Triplett.

On the Champions Tour this week, the Toshiba Classic will be held at the Newport Beach Country Club in Newport Beach, California. This tournament is from the 15th of March to the 17th, and it boastsa $1,750,000 purse. Last year, Loren Roberts walked away with the title and a huge check for $262,500. The next tournament on the PGA Tour schedule is the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic, which will be from the 22nd of March to the 24th, held at Fallen Oak in Biloxi, Mississippi, and then the Greater Gwinnett Championship will be from the 19th of April to the 21st.

The most recently played tournament on the Challenger Tour was the ACE Group Classic. This tournament was at Twin Eagles on the Talon Course in Naples, Florida, and featured a $1,600,000 purse. It was Bernhard Langer who came out on top in that event, winning $240,000 and another title. The field for the Toshiba Classic includes David Eger, Joe Daley and John Cook, as well as Brad Bryant, Tommy Armour III, Ben Crenshaw, Fred Couples, Steven Elkington, Bernhard Langer and Tom Kite as well.
