The Champions Tour will be holding a tournament this week called the Principal Charity Classic, and it will be followed by a tournament in Conover, North Carolina called the Greater Hickory Classic at Rock Barn, after the Rock Barn G & S. That tournament will be June 10^th through the 12^th and will lead into the Dick's Sporting Goods Open, June 24^th through the 26^th in Endicott, New York. The Principal Charity Classic is scheduled to be held June 3^rd through the 5^th, and it takes place at the Glen Oaks Country Club in West Des Moines, Iowa. The purse is $1,725,000 and the player who walked away with a $258,750 chunk of that purse last year was Nick Price, returning this year to defending his Principal Charity Classic title. He won with a score of fourteen under, and Tommy Armour III took second with ten under. John Cook and Loren Roberts tied for third with -9 and Jeff Sluman was fourth with eight under Par.

Fuzzy Zoeller is on the shedule to play this year along with Tommy Armour III, Andy Bean and David Peoples. Others who make up the Principal Charity Classic field include Tom Jenkins, Hale Irwin, Ben Crenshaw, Jeff Sluman, Hal Sutton and Bob Gilder. The Champion's Tour also has a tournament in June. They have three this month, but this one is called the Principal Charity Classic, and is the first in June. The tournament dates are June 4^th, on Friday, through Sunday, June 6^th. It takes place in Des Moines, Iowa at the Glen Oaks Country Club and this event has a prize purse for the Champion's Tour participants of $1,725,000 with the winner walking away with $258,750. Mark McNulty won last year's tournament and walked away with a prize purse of $258,750. The difficulty of the course if Par 71 and the total yards are 6,877. This course was designed by Tom Fazio, the number one golf course architect in the United States and is considered one of the best new courses in the country. The course has bent grass tees and grees and fairways with blue grass. Also, Fescue grass can be found growing wild on the course. This is sure to be a great stop on the Champions Tour for 2010.

Tuesday begins the Principal Charity Classic for 2009. This tournament is hosted as part of the PGA Tour and is played every year at the Glen Oaks CC in Des Moines, Iowa. This year the total purse is $1,725,000 dollars with a winner's prize of $258,750. The tournament has been held since 2001.

The Principal Charity Classic happens from May 26^th through May 31^st, and Jay Hass is the defending champion. In fact, the American won in both 2007 and 2008. Gil Morgan took the title in '06, when the name was still the Allianz Championship with Tom Jenkins in 2005, DA Weibring in 2004 and Don Pooley from the United States in 2003. 

The tournament is an event on the Champion's Tour, which is run by the PGA Tour, and it is for professional golfers aged 50 and older to compete against their peers in events across the United States and Britain. Some of the most successful PGA golfers play on the Champion's Tour and that means that this Tuesday, if you are watching, you will likely see some great shots, even better putts and all in all, great golfing skills displayed at the tournament.
