The course has undergone a lengthy renovation last year with course designer Robert Trent Jones Jr. helping out in that regard. Last year’s tournament had been won by Kirk Triplett with Dan Forsman and Doug Garwood finishing as joint first runner up. The tournament serves as the national championship event for the First Tee. The venue for the tournament has been shifted this year after last year’s edition had been hosted by the Del Monte Golf Club. The Nature Valley First Tee Open is a tournament which is like no other, as the players from the tour are paired with a selection of junior and amateur golfers from around the United States.
