The Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf is a tournament that is scheduled to take place from April 22^nd to the 24^th. It happens at the Savannah Harbor Golf Resort is Savannah, Georgia, and the purse for this event is $2,700,000. Mark O'Meara and Nick Price were the team that was able to come out on top in last year's tournament with the first prize $230,000. The team that took second was Cook and Sindelar and then Andy Bean and Lu were third in that event. This year, only one of the champion's returns. Nick Price will defend his title starting April 22^nd.

This year, the field consists of some great names, including Tommy Armour III, Scott Hoch, Brad Bryant and Tom Kite. Mike Reid and Andy Bean will be competing as well along with Hale Irwin, Kenny Perry, Lanny Wadkins, Bob Tay and Keith Fergus. Another tournament for the Champions Tour this week, the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf live which will come to you from the Stateside city of Savannah, Georgia, April 19^th through the 25^th. Let's talk about the history of the Liberty Mutual legends of Golf. This Champions Tour event has certainly gotten bigger the longer it has been hosted. The tournament has thirty two years of history but let's examine some of the more recent wins. Last year, Bernard Langer and Tom Lehman took the tournament, which was in team play, facing off against Jeff Sluman and Craig Stadler. It was exciting because Lehman was the 13^th golfer ever to win on a Champions Tour debut. That year, Langer already had won win, and went on to win twice more for a total of four in 2009.

In 2008 the tournament began the team play competition once again and Tom Watson and Andy North were able to take the victory at an amazing thirty one under Par, with a field that was impressive to say the least. The year prior it was Jay Haas, with Tom Kite as runner up and in 2006 it was Haas once again, with this third Champions Tour win that year. He took the victory with three birdies and one eagle. Since 1978 the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament has been a spectacle to behold, as the most talented golfers from all over the world compete to take home a $3.4 million dollar prize. This year is expected to be no different as the Savannah Harbor Golf Resort in Savannah, Georgia hosts golf legends this weekend. 

The tournament takes place Friday April 24^th -26^th. Friday's events begin at 16:30 and last for two hours. Saturday is another two hours from 17:00 to 19:00 and Sunday's events also take place from 17:00 to 19:00. Friday will be round 1 for both the Legends and Raphael Divisions, then on Saturday the Legends Division goes into round 2 while the Raphael Division finishes up its final round. Sunday will commence the Legends final round, plus of course, the closing ceremonies and trophy presentations.  

The tournament format is unique, as it consists of three different events, the Legends, Raphael and Demaret, which are all played by two man teams. Last year, the Legends division was won by Andy North and Tom Watson, but this year it's anyone's guess who will walk away with the title, and a share in the overall purse of $3,400,000 dollars.

The Raphael Division in 2008 showed Gary Koch and Roger Maltbie defeating Bob Charles and Stewart Ginn by one stroke while the Demaret division prize was won by Al Geiberger and Jimmy Powell who left Butch Baird and Bobby Nichols 5 strokes behind. The Raphael Division is open to legends 50-69 years of age while those 70 and over are placed in the Demaret Division. 

The prizes for the Liberty Mutual Legends tournament may certainly be a motivator as the Legends purse totals $2.6 million while the Raphael is $426,000 and the Demaret totals $372,000 dollars.
