The Champions Tour comes to town in June with the Dicks Sporting Goods Open Live, a tournament held in Endicott, New York at the En-Joie Golf Club and it will be worth $1,700,00 to the men on the champion's tour, a series that features golfers over the age of fifty and over. However, the term champions is the correct one, as many on the tour have played and won in major PGA events throughout the years and are some of the greatest legends of golf. The tournament this year will be held from the 25th of June to the 27th of June with last year's champion being Lonnie Nielsen, who happens to also be the defending champion from 2008. Lonnie walked away from the tournament with a giant check for $247,500. This year, the prize money is even better, with the winner getting a grand prize of $255,000. The total prize purse for the Dick's Sporting Good's Open is $1.7 million dollars. Coming up next month is the Montreal Championship, the Senior Open Championship and the U.S. Senior Open Championship.

This is a solid month for golf, as is the upcoming July, and these previous champions and legends of golf are getting ready to show what they got on the field this weekend. The field includes names like Jay Haas, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Jenkins, Craig Stadler, Tom Kite, David Frost, David Peoples, Andy Bean, Fred Funk, Fuzzy Zoeller and many more. The Dick's Sporting Goods Open will be Monday, June 22nd through Sunday, June 28th, and will take place at the En-Joie Golf Course, in Endicott, New York. Dick's Sporting Goods has agreed to sponsor this tournament through 2012, worth over $1.6 million dollars to players, the winner receiving a check for $247,500 dollars. This Champion's Tour event features some of the biggest names in golf that are aged fifty and older. Dick's Sporting Goods is the largest golf retailer in the country, and under its sponsorship the tournament has distributed millions of dollars to local New York charities.

Last year Eduardo Romero took home the trophy, winning his first PGA Tour event. He already has been responsible for more than 90 victories nationwide and last year he showed just exactly why, closing out at 17-under beating Fulton Allem and Gary Koch. Joey Sindelar was thought to be the favorite by many, but his tee shot went into the trees and he ended up with a double bogey and fourth place.
The course at Endicott is 6,974 Yards, the first hole a par 4 with 367 yards. The total Par value for the course is 72, a sometimes challenging and difficult course with players this year taking on the challenge including World Golf Hall of Famers Hale Irwin, and Nick Price, plus Joey Sindelar, John Cook, Any Bean, Fuzzy Zoeller and Jeff Sluman. Joining them on the field, just recently committed are 2008 Charles Schwab Cup Champion Jay Haas, Dennis Watson and 2006 Dick's Sporting Good's Champion RW Eaks. Defending champion from 2008, Eduardo Romero will also be playing.

The 2009 schedule is as follows: Monday, June 22nd will begin the qualifying and practice rounds, with Tuesday allowing for more practice rounds and Dick's Sporting Goods Junior Day. Wednesday there is a Pro-Am at 8am, continuing Thursday with the first round of the main tournament on Friday. Round 2 begins on Saturday and the tournament finishes out on Sunday.
