Peter Hanson Wins Third Title at Mallorca Open

Peter HansonPeter Hanson has come out on top at the Iberdola Open Cala Millor Mallorca, commonly called the Mallora Open, which took place in Spain May 13th through the 16th. That means that he got his share of the 800,000 Euros that were up for grabs in this tournament. The final was between him and Alejandro Canizares, and after a chip shot on number twelve he was two behind at the 15th, but he made a birdie on both the 15th and the 17th holes dominating the Pula Golf Club Course, which stretches out for 6,915 Yards.

This was Hanson's third European Tour Title and the final score was 66 and 6 under. James Kingston from South Africa was the closest to him and Canizares, but was four strokes behind. At one under par, Christian Cevaer and Gonzalo Fernandez Castano, one hailing from France and the other from Spain, tied for fourth place. Peter Hanson was quoted as saying that after all that happened it felt fantastic. About his double hit he said that it looked a little strange, with the ball going down and then him hitting it again.

This puts Hanson right in line to make it to the top fifty and if he can do so, then he'll be able to skip the qualifying for the U.S. Open. Last year, he was forced to qualify but rose to the occasion, making a hole in one at a playoff. Canizares did not get the second European Tour title that he was looking for but he did get his third top ten finish, and that comes as the third in a row. He said that he thought he played very well on Sunday, but wasn't there Friday and Saturday. He said he didn't miss too many shot on Sunday.
