Immelman Cannot Compete in US Open

Robert KarlssonThe U.S. Open from Bethpage State Park's Black Course will do without 2008 Master's Champion Trevor Immelman this year. Immelman chose to withdraw from the tournament after revealing to U.Sl Open Officials that Tendonitis in his left elbow and wrist would cause him to be unable to play.

The South African, who joined the PGA Tour in 2006, has 10 professional titles but his last placement in the U.S. Open in 2006 was a tie for 21st place.   This isn't Immelman's only withdraw due to medical reasons, he was forced to withdraw from the 2007 South African Airways Open after doctors discovered a golf ball sized lesion in his diaphragm.

Immelman is the third withdrawal, with Robert Karlsson withdrawing last week, due to an eye infection and American Dudley Hart withdrawing as well. Immelman will be replaced by first alternate Clinton Jensen.
