Volvo Golf Champions 2011 Live

The European Tour heads to the Royal Golf Club this week for the Volvo Golf Champions live. This is the final European Tour event in January, and next month starts out with the Commercialbank Qatar Masters Presented by Dolphin Energy, held for $2,500,000, February 3^rd through the 6^th at the Doha Golf Club in Qatar. The Volvo Golf Champions will be held January 27^th through January 30^th at the Royal Golf Club in the Kingdom of Bahrain, with a prize purse of €1,700,000. This is the first year of the tournament and the field will be made up of 126 past European Tour Champions, including players who have made history on the tour in the past few years. The tournament will now be the beginning of what is called the 'Desert Swing' on the European Tournament and the Royal Golf Club Mongomerie Course will be the venue, named after and designed by Ryder Cup Captain from 2010 Colin Montgomerie.

The field this year is an impressive one including Todd Hamilton, Michael Campbell, Robert Karlsson, Colin Montgomerie, Andrew Marshall and Anders Hansen, as well as Paul Casey, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Stephen Dodd, David Howell, Ian Poulter and Christian Cevaer as well as David Horsey, Gregory Bourdy and Michael Jonzon.
