On the European Tour this week the UBS Hong Kong Open will be played. This tournament will be played from the 1st of December to the 4th of December, and it happens at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling, Hong Kong. This tournament is worth $2,750,000 and it will be followed by the final event of the year on the European Tour, the Dubai World Championships presented by DP World, which happens from the 8th of December to the 11th. That tournament takes place at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, UAE for $7,500,000.

Colin Montgomerie will be participating in this tournament along with Rory McIlroy and Padraig Harrington. Y.E. The UBS Hong Kong Open is going to be held in Fanling, Hong Kong, at the Hong Kong Golf Club, November 18th through the 21st. $2,500,000 is the purse and the course is a Par 70 and is 6,700 yards. The opening of the UBS Hong Kong Open in 2003 saw the youngest player ever compete in a European Tour event, thirteen year old Shih-Kai, who beat Sergio Garcia's record of the youngest player, when was played at the age of fifteen at the Turespana Open Mediterrania in Valencia in 1995.

The field for the UBS Hong Kong Open includes Graeme McDowell, Colin Montgomerie and Simon Khan, as well as Miguel Angel Jimenez and Y.E. Yang. This tournament has been running annually since November 2001 at the same Hong Kong course, as part of the European tour, although the tournament has actually been running since 1959. The list of winners so far (in the European tour years) reads like a who’s-who of the world of golf. From the inaugural win of José Maria Olazábal in 2001 through to Wen-tang Lin, the 2008 winner, names such as Colin Montgomerie, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Padraig Harrington have all had their hands on the trophy over the years.
This year’s 72 holes will again be contested by a red hot field, with the crème-de-La-crème of the golfing world participating. Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Ben Curtis, Paul Lawrie, Ian Poulter, Paul Casey, Miguel Angel Jimenez, Rory McIlroy, and Ben Curtis are all among the starters for the four day extravaganza.
The course at the Hong Kong Golf Club is a par 70 and is 6703 yards in total length. The players will play four rounds of golf covering 72 holes during the four day event. José María Olazábal holds the record to par (in the European tour years) of 22 under, set in 2002, while Fredrik Jacobson holds the best aggregate score of 260, set in 2003.
