The Barclays Scottish Open Live

The Barclays Scottish Open will be held this week on the European Tour, and it happens at the Castle Stuart Golf Links in Inverness, Scotland, July 7th to the 10th. This tournament is worth £3,000,000 and it will be followed by the 140^th Open Championship at the Royal St. George's Golf Club in Kent, England, July 14^th through the 17^th. After that, there is another tournament in July, the Nordea Masters. Previously on the European Tour was the BMW International Open at the Golfclub Minchen Eichenreid in Munich, Germany, won by Pablo Larrazabal.

The field for this tournament includes Lee Westwood and Phil Mickelson as well as Martin Laird, Retief Goosen and Graeme McDowell. Loch Lomond is a Par 71, split up into a 36 on the front and a 35 on the back. This course has a total yardage of 7149 yards which equates to 6534 meters. Many people have won the Barclay's Scottish Open, but only Ian Wosnam has won it three times, once in 1987, 1990 and 1996. Ernie Els won in both 2000 and 2003. Those two players are the only ones to win this tournament more than once. One player who is a favorite is Lee Westwood and he's hoping that he'll be able to match Ernie Els with two wins

The Barclays Scottish Open is once again played at Loch Lomond, as it has since 1996, to become one of the most looked forward to courses on the European Tour schedule. This year it will be held from Thursday, July 9^th to Sunday, July 12^th. Your place for all the action, as well as for all of the events on the European Tour is right here on www.watchlivegolf.com. Loch Lomond was opened in 1994, and two years later became the premier location in Scotland for the Scottish Open.

The course is 660 acres of perfectly landscaped greens and fairways, surrounded by the mountains and the loch, with streams and marshes crossing throughout the course, making a truly spectacular location. It is listed as one of the top 100 finest golf courses in the world and is a challenging course for these pro-golfers to compete on. The course is 7,100 yards and a Par 71. The course was voted as the number one course in Scotland by Bunkered and in the top fifty in Golf Magazine. The main sponsor is Barclays, which has several branches of work including investment banking. They operate in over fifty countries and have more than 42 million customers worldwide.

The 2008 Champion was Graeme McDowell, who had a great season last year that included a shot from 179 yards that landed within a foot of the hole at Ballantine's. He also had a Ryder Cup debut against the US at Valhalla, as well as winning the 2008 Barclays.
