On the European Tour this week, the CommercialBank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy. This tournament will happen in Doha, Qatar at the Doha Golf Club and it is worth $2,500,000, and will be running from the 2nd of February to the 5th. It will be followed by the February 9th through the 12th Omega Dubai Desert Classic, at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai, UAE, also a two and a half million dollar tournament. Also, the Avantha Masters are coming up in the month of Feburary, starting the 16th and ending the 19th.

Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer will be playing in this tournament along with Jason Day and Graeme McDowell and KJ Choi. The European Tour will head to Doha for the Commercialbank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy as we enter the month of February. These professional golfers will compete in this prestigious tournament and it will be followed by the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, which happens February 10th through the 13th and the Avantha Masters which is February 17th through the 20th. The Commercialbank Qatar Masters presented by Dolphin Energy will happen February 3rd through the 6th and it will take place at the Doha Golf Club in Doha, Qatar. The purse for this tournament is $2,500,000. The Doha Golf Club is a Par 72 and is 7388 yards in length. Last year, Robert Karlsson was the big winner, coming back from an eye injury which kept him from doing anything in 2009. He was a decisive winner in 2010, ahead of everyone else by three strokes. The runner up was the 2009 champion, Alvaro Quiros.

Headlining the European Tour Event the Commercialbank Qatar Masters are those from the top 50 World Golf Rankings which include Lee Westwood and Martin Kaymer as well as Steve Stricker and Paul Casey. Ian Poulter will also be attending as well as Retief Goosen and defending champion Robert Karlsson along with Louis Oosthuizen, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Ross Fisher. Golf begins in 2010 with the Qatar Masters live, sponsored by the Commercial Bank of Qatar, and going from January 27th to January 31st. This tournament listed the prize money at only $750,000 back in 2001, but last year, the tournament prize money equaled two and a half million dollars and last year’s champion was Spaniard Alvaro Quiros. The tournament has been hosted at the Doha, Qatar Golf Club since 1998, in Doha, Qatar. The course is desert type terrain and is 7,374 yards long, played in January as part of the European and Asian Tours. The defending champion is Quiros, but in 2008 it was Adam Scott. Retief Goosen won it the year prior to that and we saw Henrik Stenson take home the 2006 title. Adam Scott is the only person to win this tournament twice, having taken another title back in 2002 and the first winner was at the 1998 tournament – Andrew Coltart.
