Other winners of this tournament have included Gary Orr, Phillip Price, Pablo Martin, Michael McLean, Robert Lee and Mike Harwood.

Let's take a look at the player commitments for the Estoril Open of Portugal held June 10th through the 13th. The Portugal Masters take place at the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura, Portugal from the 15th to the 18th October and this is a tournament you go watch live and online right here at watchlivegolf.com – the internet’s number one resource for live golf online.

The Portugal Masters was first played in 2007, but this has not stopped it becoming the country’s richest golf tournament. This year the total prize fund tops €3 million and with the winner walking away with €500,000, there will be an almighty scrap to finish in the number one position. And a scrap it will be with the calibre of players that have listed entry for this year’s competition.
With names such as Padraig Harrington, Lee Westwood, Colin Montgomerie, Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose all in action, it’s easy to see the calibre of golf that is bound to be played. Tournament favourites are the in-form Northern Irish youngster Rory McIlroy and Irish maestro Padraig Harrington, both currently on 9/1.
The Oceânico Victoria Golf Course is 7231 yards in length and is a 72-par hole course. The greens are currently large and undulating and the fairways are of average width and contouring, but they have many bunkers interlaced. Arnold Palmer designed the wonderful course and it was opened back in 2000. The course can generally be described as flat and exposed, and it has many water hazards, including four lakes. The greens are considered to be fast and tricky so only those players on top of their putting game will do well.

The forecast weather for this year’s tournament is set to be sunny but breezy, although there has been some heavy rain in the days leading up to the competition. Tune into watchlivegolf.com on the 15th October for live, uninterrupted coverage of the 2009 Portugal Masters from the Oceânico Victoria Golf Course in Vilamoura.
