The European Tour will be traveling to Spain this week for a tournament that starts on May 5th. Also this month is the Barcelona Open, which happens at the Pula Golf Club and is from May 12th through the 15th and then the Volvo World Match Play Championship, which happens May 19th through the 22nd for around three million Euros. The Open de Espana live happens from May 5th through the 8th. It will features a prize purse of two million Euros and takes plae at the Real Club de Golf El Prat in Terrassa, Barcelona, Spain. The Open De Espana happens April 30th through May 3rd at the PGA Golf de Catalunya in Girona, Spain. 2008 saw Peter Lawrie from Ireland take home 333,330 euros in first place. Ignacio Garrido from Spain and Soren Hansen from Denmark took second and third respectively. This season of the European Tour includes events in places like South Africa, Abu Dhabi, Australia, Qatar, South Korea and Hong Kong.

The PGA Golf de Catalunya was opened in 1999 and is famous for its elevated tee shots. It's tree lined and five of the 18 holes have water hazards. The weather tends to bring rain in April for this tournament but so far the forecast is sunny and dry with the exception of Friday, which is a bit shaky.

Fans are looking forward expectantly to this tournament as it's one of the most lucrative tournaments of the year and the golfers competing will be bring thier best. The winner receives 333,330 euros in prize money with the runner up receiving 222,220. Third place gets $125,200 while fourth receives just $100,000 all amounts in euros.

Some of the favorite entries are Paul Lawrie, Charl Schwartzel, Niclas Fasth, Christian Cevaer, Kenneth Ferrie, Jarmo Sandelin, Thomas Bjorn and Montgomerie. Paul Lawrie hit five under in the final round last year and beat Iganacio Garrido for his first European Tour Win. The defending champion will be back this year for the Open De Espana along with unexpeteds John Daly and Colin Montgomerie.
