The next tournament on the European Tour is the Bankia Madrid Masters, held at the El Encin Golf Hotel, in Alcala de Henares, Spain. This tournament is worth a million Euros and will be the first held completely in October, with the previous tournament starting on September 29th and ending on October 2nd. That was the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, held at the Old Course St. Andrews in Scotland. Michael Hoey won that tournament and his share of the 3,528,000 Euro prize purse. Next up, after the Bankia Madrid Masters, is the Portugal Masters in Vilamoura, Portugal starting October 13th.

Michael Campbell will be playing in this European Tour event as will Luke Donald and Simon Khan. The European Tour has a tournament this week called the Madrid Masters Live, taking place from May 27th to May 30th. The venue is the Real Sociedad Hipica Club de Camp in Madrid and this European Tour event features some of the best golfers on the tour. The European Tour continues next week with the Madrid Masters live from Madrid Spain, held at the Centro Nacional de Golf October 8th through the 11th. Category One commitments include number five ranked Paul Lawrie from Scotland and Jose Maria Olazaba from Spain. Those were the winners of the Grand SIn the second category, which included winners from the IGA Championship as well as TPC of Europe, Vovvo Masters and Dubai. Last year the tournament was held October 9th through the 12th at the Club de Campo Ville de Madrid and was won by Charl Schwartzel, who had a minus 19 when it was all over. He walked away with the Grand Prize of 166,660 Euros. Ricardo Gonzalez from Argentina took second place, with 268 as his total, and a second place prize of just over 111,000 Euros. Pablo Larrazabal came in third, and Alvaro Quiros and Robert Rock, from Spain and England respectively, tied for fourth place, both getting a fourteen under.

The course is a Par 71 and there are a total 7,242 Yards that these golfers will have to cross to make it all the way to the green at hole eighteen. The shortest distance hole is 184 yard hole nine, which is a Par 3. The very first hole is the longest, being 578 Yards and is a Par 5 hole.
