The 2015 Hero Indian Open will be played from February 19 to February 22nd at the Delhi Golf Club. Though the tournament was established in 1964 this is the first year that it is a part of the European Tour.
The Delhi Gold Club is located in New Delhi the capital of India. It is 6, 923 yards (6, 330 m) in length and has a par of 71. The total prize money in this stroke play format event is US$ 1, 500,000. The tournament record aggregate score belongs to David Glesson of Australia who in 2011 managed a score of 268. The incumbent champion is Mohammad Siddikur of Bangladesh.
The tournament has been won three times each by two golfers the Australian Peter Thompson, the inaugural champion in 1964 who again did it in 1966 and 1976 and the Indian Jyoti Randhawa who did it in 2000, 2006 and 2007. Coincidentally the second last event in the European Tour, the Maybank Malaysian Open was also won by an Indian Anirban Lahiri. South African Branden Grace has won two events this colander year and is in decent form. Rory Mcllroy has also won his first European Tour event at the Omega Dubai Classic earlier this month.
