On the European Tour this week, the Dubai World Championship, the famous end of year tournament that is worth $8,000,000 and runs from the 22nd of November to the 25th. This event will be the final tournament of the European Tour 2012 calender, and it will be played at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The most recent tournament before this one was the SA Open Championship, held in South Africa from November 15th to the 18th, and won by Henrik Stenson with seventeen under.
Right now, Rory McIlroy is leading the pack in the Race to Dubai. He has the top spot with 3,696,597 Euros earned. In Second place is Swedish player Peter Hanson followed by Justin Rose from England. The third placed player on the table is Louis Oosthuizen and then Ian Poulter is the fifth placed golfer in the Race to Dubai. Number six and seven are Branden Grace and Francesco Molinari and then seventh is Luke Donald from England. The last two of the top ten right now are Graeme McDowell and Paul Lawrie.

This is the first time for this tournament but it is likely that it will become a tradition for many years to come. With just over two and a half million Euros in prize money Roy McIlroy leads the Race to Dubai. Lee Westwood takes the number two spot with his winnings at $2,410,277. Three on the Dubai Leaderboard is Martin Kaymer and Ross Fisher takes the fourth slot with just over $2.1 Million Euros. Then we have Paul Casey rounding out the top five on the leaderboard with just over two mil. The rest of the top ten looks like this: Geoff Ogilvy in number six spot, then Oliver Wilson who is followed by Simon Dyson, Ian Poulter and Ernie Els.
This is going to be a terrific tournament and the course is ripe for the headline event, which will start a tradition on the European Tour that may last for decades. The Earth Course at the Jumeirah Golf Estates is a Par 72 course that is 7,675 yards long.
