The European Tour heads to Celadna in the Czech Republic this week for a tournament that is titled the Czech Open, running from August 19th to August 22nd, and offering a prize purse of 2,000,000 Euros to the players on the European Tour. This tournament will be played at the Prosper Golf Club and will be followed by the Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles. This tournament has been going on since 1994, and the 2009 winner was Oskar Henningsson, and while the venue was the same the tournament was called the Moravia Silesia Open. There was a major break between tournaments, and the most recent before that was 1997, won by Bernhard Langer. In 1996 Jonathan Lomas won and then Peter Teravainen in 1995. The first winner of the Czech Open was Per-Ulrik Johansson when it was held at Marianske Lazne Golf Club. Right now, leading the standings for the Race to Dubai on the tour are Graeme McDowell and Lee Westwood.
