BMW PGA Championship Live

The European Tour holds the BMW PGA Championship live this week and it will be held at the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England from May 26^th to the 29^th. This will be followed by the Saab Wales Open, held June 2^nd through the 5^th in Wales. Other tournaments coming up include the BMW Italian Open in Turin, Italy and the US Open Championship in June. The most recently finished tournament was the Iberdrola Open, held at the Pula Golf Club in Son Servera, Mallorca in Spain. That event was won by Darren Clarke and it was held May 12^th through the 15^th. Before that Thomas Aiken won the Open de Espana at the Real Club de Golf El Prat in Terrassa, Barcelona, also in Spain. Lee Westwood also won the Ballantine's Championship which happened back at the beginning of May, and held at the Blackstone Golf Club which is in Icheon, Seoul in the Korea Republic.

Competing in the BMW PGA Championship this year are Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood and Luke Donald as well as Ian Poulter, Miguel Angel Jimenez and Louis Oosthuizen. Peter Hanson will also be in attendance as well as Paul Casey, Rory McIlroy, Ernie Els, Graeme McDowell and Charl Schwartzel along with Y.E. Yang and Padraig Harrington. The European Tour will host the BMW PGA Championship, which will be May 20^th through the 23^rd from the Wentworth Club in Surrey, England for a prize purse that is worth $4,500,000. The 2009 BMW PGA Championship is part of the European Tour and will be played this year at the Wentworth Club near London, England. The tourney has been in practice since 1955, and this event is said to be the flagship event on the European Tour, usually with the highest prize money of any tournament on the tour. 

This year's tournament will be played May 21^st through the 24^th with past champions like Spain's Miguel Angel Jimenez who won the title last year, winning both BMW Sets and getting a hole in one at Wentworth as well as Anders Hanson, the 2007 winner, and David Howell from England and Argentina's Angel Cabrera who won in 2006 and 2005 respectively. The tournament was established in 1955 and features a total purse this year of $4.5 Million Euros, on a par 72 course that is 7,380 meters long.

This year's entries include Paul Lawrie and Colin Montgomerie from Scotland, Anders Hansen from Denmark, David Howell, Scott Drummond, Jose Maria Olazabal and Michael Campbell.
