The European Tour kicks off the Bank Austria Golf Open live on September 17th and lasts through the 20th. It takes place at the Golfclub Fontana near Vienna and the prize money equals one million euros, while not as high as some of the other tournaments this is still an exciting tournament to watch. The event has been all over the place in recent years, having began in 1990 as the Austrian Open, and was a European tour event until 1996, but then became part of the Challenge Tour, from 1997 to 2005. The tournament was placed back on the main tour in 2006 and has been there ever since with Bank Austria as the title sponsor.

The course is a Par 71, with 7,066 yards of play area, and this year, the Par 5 18th hole will hold a prize for an albatross, or hole in 2. It's a luxury yacht worth nearly 300,000 Euros. The field this year includes John Daly, who pleased organizers by agreeing to appear at Fontana. Among the top international players appearing include Darren Clark. The Irish golfer has a total of 12 wins on the European Tour and 2 on the PGA Tour. Also playing is Richard Green, who is tied for 60th place on the PGA Tour and Soren Hansen, perhaps with not as many wins to his name, with only 2 on the European Tour and one on the PGA Tour, but still an incredible international player.

Green won the tournament in 2006, when it as called the BA-CA Golf Open and the defending champion from last year is Jeev Miikha Singh.
