The first tournament of the season on the European Tour will be the Africa Open, starting on the 5th of January and ending on the 8th. This tournament is at the East London Golf Club, in East London, South Africa. A million Euros are up for grabs for the players in this tournament. The following event will be January 12th through the 15th, and will be called the Joburg Open, worth 1.3 million Euros and held in South Africa as well. A third South Africa tournament worth two million is called the Volvo Golf Champions and starts on January 19th.

Players that are going to be participating in this tournament include Peter Hedblom and Louis Oosthuizen. Ruan De Smidt and John Peterson will be playing as well along with Daniel Greene, Reggie Adams and Benn Barham. The Africa Open will happen at the East London Golf Club in Eastern Cape, South Africa. It kicks off the 2011 season of golf for the tour. The tournament started just last year, also at the East London Golf Club, and it was held January 7th. Last year the purse was €993,900, and it was won by Charl Schwartzel. Thomas Aiken came in second and Jbe Kruger was third, both from Russia. Britain's James Morrison and Russia's Trevor Fisher Junior and Chris Swanepoel tied for fourth. This is a Par 73 course and its a total of 6,770 yards long.

January 7th through the 10th will be the European Tour's Africa Open Live and as we kick off the 2010 season of professional golf this Sunshine Tour event will see some great talent hit the field at the East London Golf Club starting this Thursday. The tournament is in Eastern Cape, South Africa and the golfers are ready to return to the race for the Ryder Cup after three weeks of no golf. So who do we have this year for the tournament. The defending champion is Retief Goosen but he will not be returning this year. However, there will be entries from all kinds of qualifying corners such as Kenneth Ferrie, who qualified with winning the 1997 TPC of Europe as well as winning players from the European Tour Order of Merit from 2008 to 2010 such as Danny Lee, Mark Brown, Nick Doughtery from England who won at the Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club as well as players that were invited by the sponsors such as Mark Fensham, Paulo Pinto and Stuart Anderson.
