The Royal Trophy Live

The Royal Trophy Live will happen this week with an Asian Team that is being called the best one ever, and they are clamoring for a win after barely losing last time. The other side is led by Colin Montgomerie, and takes place at the Black Mountain Golf Club in Hua Hin, one of the places where golf is growing in popularity in Asia, January 7^th through the 9^th. Europe will be tested as Naomichi Ozaki attempts to lead the Asian Team to a victory on home soil, as it is Asia's year to host the tournament. This is also the fifth time in a row that the tournament has started in a brand new venue and Mongomerie is confident with a Ryder Cup win last year as well as the 2010 Royal Trophy victory. But Asia will be giving it their all. This tournament was began in 2005 to complement golf in Asia and out of the four times that the tournament has been played Europe has been victorious four of those.

The players that will be competing in this year's Royal Trophy Include Shunsuke Sonoda, Pablo Martin, Liang Wenchong from China and South Korea's Noh Seung-yul as well as Swedish players Henrik Stenson and Johan Edfors. Also Kim Kyung-Tae, Yuta Ikeda, Thongchai Jaidee from Thailand, Peter Hanson and Fredrik Andersson Hed. The Asian Tour kicks off The Royal Trophy Live January 9^th through the 11^th, at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok. Don't miss this prestigious tournament as we kick off the 2010 season of professional golf for the Asian Tour. You won't want to miss this tournament as Europe and Asia are represented and we see some great golf played. Last year, Asia took home the trophy but who knows what will happen this year. The tournament began in 2006, and the venue has remained the same for the past few years. The tournament consists of eight man teams which play a total of sixteen rounds representing both Asia and Europe. The format is similar to the Ryder Cup and in fact was inspired by the Cup and is one of the newest of the team golf events that have been popping up since the 1990's. The King of Thailand donates a trophy that goes to the winner and this is a prestigious tournament to take part in, and even more prestigious to win.

In 2009 it was Asia who took the trophy from Europe with a score of ten to six. The captain for Europe was Jose Maria Olazabel and the Captain for Asia was Joe Ozaki. The prior year the tournament was cancelled but in 2007 Europe won the event 12 ½ to 3 ½ and then in 2006 it was Europe yet again with a score of nine to Asia's 7. Don't miss this tournament.
